Wind knots form from slack line entering the spool during the cast. The name is misleading — wind rarely causes them. The real culprit is overfilled spools and uncontrolled casting speed that lets line pile unevenly before the retrieve begins.
Fix: Reduce spool fill to about ⅛ inch below the lip, and control casting speed through the release. Let the lure pull the line — don't throw slack at it.
